December 4, 2024 – Fort Lauderdale, FL — During the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, Abdol Moabery, CEO of GA Telesis, announced the company’s five-year commitment to funding ten (10) scholarships annually for the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association’s (ALTA) Girls with Goals program. This initiative exemplifies GA Telesis’ dedication to fostering diversity and empowering women to pursue careers in aviation.

The Girls with Goals program is a cornerstone of ALTA’s efforts, in partnership with industry volunteer executives, to inspire and support young women in Latin America and the Caribbean who dream to become technicians in aircraft maintenance. The program seeks to provide women pathways into an aviation industry where female representation remains limited. With GA Telesis’ backing, the program will be able to offer 50 scholarships over the next five years, creating critical opportunities for aspiring women in commercial aviation.

Asked for comment during the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, Abdol Moabery emphasized the importance of investing in the future of the aviation workforce. “Aviation thrives on innovation, and innovation thrives on diversity,” said Moabery. “By supporting Girls with Goals, we’re not just providing scholarships—we’re shaping the future of commercial aviation and ensuring that talented women from the Latin America & Caribbean region can lead and succeed in this vital industry.”

The scholarships will provide recipients with financial assistance to complete their studies in aeronautical maintenance. This program aims to empower young women with the tools, guidance, and encouragement they need to achieve their dreams in aviation.

“We are grateful with the important support of Abdol Moabery and GA Telesis to the Girls with Goals program,” said José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director & CEO of ALTA. “This outstanding commitment represents a significant step toward building a more inclusive and diverse aviation industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, which is needed to accompany the growth the region will have in terms of passengers and connectivity in the following years.”

The ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, celebrated in Nassau – Bahamas, served as the perfect platform for this announcement, reinforcing the collective commitment of aviation leaders to sustainable growth and inclusivity within the industry.
